Marisa Matias manifested before the European commissioner of Justice the citizens concern before the way European institutions before the sensible questions of data protection and the calling to make them available for third countries, breaking the established trust link when they have become the guardians of such informations, wihc configures a breach of trust. "We are dealing here of what can be a clash between rights, guarantees, the European citizens safeguard, that are protected by European legislation are seen as outdated when the other countries legislation overlaps this legislation", Said the MEP from Unitarian Left (GUE/NGL) elected by the Left Bloc. When the European citizens yield their personal data to the European Union institutions, they do so on a trust base, Marisa Matias stressed, establishing a contract through which is understood that this informations are protected and not yield to other countries. If this happens, she added, it is a breach of trust and if the European institutions accept to be guardian of these informations it is not to yield when, for example, the United States require them, as often happens. Therefore, Marisa Matias said before the European Parliament plenary, "I will always be on the side of the citizens that protest because they want the protection and safeguard of their personal data".
