Unitarian Left in the European Parliament 9GUE/NGL) considers that the treaty of budget control approved Monday by the European Council will worsen the crisi and translates “an antidemocratic institutionalization of austerity” as political system. The agreement will be debated by the European Parliament in a plenary mini-session Wednesday afternoon in Brussels. The agreement transfers the country's budgetary powers to the Commission and puts into practice a rule of “budgetary balance” subject of sanctions by the member States. The measures predicted, that depends still from ratification by each of the Euro Zone member States, “will cause drastic restrictions and supplementary pressures over the public services and activities depending on them”, the MEP's from Unitarian Left stated. Besides, introducing a condition to solidarity between each member State, “the agreement rejects the principle of equity between the 27, leading to dangerous divisions not only for the Euro but also for the European Union as a whole”. The group GUE/NGL considers to be necessary “abandon this disastrous policy” and “calls the European leaders to work for the growth, employment, democracy and solidarity”. “The left equally deplores the absence of any democratic consultation about the text and asks to be presented in the Parliament according to normal procedure before being proposed to the referendums and to public consultation”, is argued in the statement issued in Brussels by the group GUE/NGL. “Unfortunately” is added, so far “the European leaders have chosen another way, a way that our group cannot and will not support”
