Os gregos são alérgicos à austeridade

Marisa Matias

E a Grécia aqui tão perto

A lição do super-espião

We predict, and the reality tries not the deny it, that everything will go wrong. A new year at the door and it seems more dark than ever. In consecutive days, as Sergio Godinho, "some of us still death, some of us still alive".

The daily politics, solo or shared, is enclosed to the frame "I exist". If the language of "who's in charge" were a football slang we wouldn't be far from idea "run after the damage". And, is that is enough?

It is hard to speak about hope in this current days. Will it be an exclusive message from Lisbon's Cardinal Patriarch? Because from the government we only listen about "trust" and hope was thrown to the designs of faith. One needs to rescue alternative scenarios. Those that show us things can be different, that not everything is written and that fatality is only good for romance pages. To have hope one needs charm, we also now that. Ultimately, we are enchanted with little and we question even less. We do not question enough about how money is produces and were do we go to get it. We pay and that is it. This would be the final chapter of a story where fatality has become a whole country's fado. But, back to Sergio Godinho, "between the street and the country goes the step dwarf". And the street he speaks about is not just an street: is the ill reputed and perfumes smelling mud. In that street live the ones saying that there is not live beyond the troika. It is very likely that it might seem counter-information is clear: yes, there is life beyond the troika. Ours.

The strength we have in our arms cannot be useful only to obey, to make peace with others and bad with us. There are alternative ways, citizens initiatives taking place, as the audit to the debt, there are positions to take if one wants to shut before more "impositions from the markets" or if we do not give up of what is left from our social State and we seek to improve it.

We have a voice to use and we are not forced to dance the tango. The dance we have to build involves us all. For the last time, lets get back to Sergio Godinho: "step on the floor, is good we insist". 2012 is still not written. By the way, let's go to another shared idea: what is coming can be worse. Just that we resign.
